Maungu Wildlife Conservancy commenced 2024 by issuing education bursaries to needy students in the local community of Mbololo Ward, Voi Sub-county in Taita Taveta.
This was the third year in a row Maungu disbursed Sh2 million through its conservation scholarship scheme, which supports economically disadvantaged and academically gifted students to pay their school fees.
We are happy to have successfully rolled out our bursaries to the local community for the third year running.
Manager, Felix Kiprono
Maungu, through the respectice zonal sub-committees, selects 10 students from each of the give zones in Mbololo Ward, namely Mraru, Tausa, Ndome, Ghazi and Wongonyi.
In addition to supporting students in the community to continue with their education, the conservation scholarship scheme also endeavours to enable students to develop an interest and appreciation of conservation.
The program, therefore, encompasses school visits and activities that help the students learn about wildlife conservation, thus raising the next generation of conservation champions in the area.
